Afghan Technical Consultants (ATC), was the first large scale humanitarian mine action organization to be established in Afghanistan as United Nations partner for Mine clearance and other services.
The organization was founded in October 1989 to clear high priority areas of mines and UXOs in Afghanistan. Since then, it has undergone significant changes and expansion and has developed into a highly organized and effective organization employing over 1600 personnel only in demining projects. ATC is able to use the following demining, UXO clearance and mine action techniques as part of its overall clearance strategy:
Manual Mine Clearance (MCT), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Battle Area Clearance (BAC), Mechanical Mine Clearance using Flails, Mechanical Mine Clearance using Backhoe Machines, Mechanical Mine Clearance using Rotary Cutter, Mine Risk Education. |
